CHARACTER NAME: Travis Touchdown
CANON & HISTORY: Links ahoy! Canons: No More Heroes and NMH: Desperate Struggle.
Character History: Travis: The Man, The Myth, The Legend
AGE: 30
CANON POINT: Post final boss of Desperate Struggle, as he falls from Batt's Tower

PERSONALITY: Travis is the innate combination of an otaku, a badass, and an idiot (Well, half an idiot, half a genius. It depends on the time of day and whether or not the plot calls for the idiot ball). He's the very definition of blunt when it comes to his words, at least most of the time, and doesn't try to hide a whole lot, to a fault even. He finds that life is at its most enjoyable when you're at the most risk of losing it and truly appreciates the threat of death, showing nothing but loathing for any perversion of it, ESPECIALLY if it is so that others can get their jollies. He is by no means a noble individual. He trolls people he doesn't like relentlessly, pays no respect to anyone that hasn't either outright earned it or made friendly with him, and won't hesitate to challenge someone. But he's also got his standards, and there are things he will not abide by.

For the most part, Travis is a uniquely charismatic and, as mentioned above, trollish individual, with moments of arrogance whenever it comes to being awesome. He doesn't shy away from having fun, be it drinking with friends or playing a round of Wii Boxing. He's an otaku, so he has a fundamental love for anime, particularly magical girl and mecha animes. And if they cross over, beware of the power of his fanboy. So too does he have a respect and deep admiration for Japanese culture, particularly of samurai. He's also a pro wrestling fan and a considerably talented wrestler as well. Something of which he is happy to boast about if the topic ever comes up. While he does have some truly noteworthy charisma to him, he's just as capable of seeming like an idiot, of the lame loser and vulgarly blunt varieties.

But that isn't to say he's not without a dark side. And Travis has a considerable one. While there isn't much he keeps bottled up, there are some sizable exceptions. He is also a creature of the kill, and is no stranger to revenge. Furthermore, he is an assassin. Killing is in his nature, and while he loves the thrill of a good deathmatch, he is also quite capable of killing those weaker than him without any remorse. This does not mean that Travis cares nothing for the people he kills, however. It has been shown time and time again that he recognizes their existences. This is shown more so in the second game, to where he refuses to strike a killing blow on two opponents, both of them male. Failure affects him in one of two ways. If he fails himself, he sets that task as the new standard to overcome and strives to do so. But if he fails others, such as getting one killed or being unable to save them, he gets far angrier and darker. He never seems to fall into the trap of blaming himself, instead focusing all his hate and rage towards whoever he perceives as responsible. And if anyone, friends or foe alike, gets in his way at this point, they are likely to be met with violence.

Worth noting here is that Travis himself seems very susceptible to tunnel vision, especially when it comes to his more driven pursuits. He is very much someone that leaps before he looks, and to his credit, he manages to make it work. Most of the time, this has something to do with the people he's usually leaping at. All it takes, however, is one real good mistake for Travis to realize that all his blind leaping has had its consequences. What's interesting is that he neither lets it destroy him, nor forgoes it completely. Rather, he allows it to have its effect, before finding some way to either confront and resolve it, or take hold of it and let it make him stronger. Almost like learning the pattern of a boss in order to best it, Travis learns from these moments in order to best continue on.

Travis' motivations can range from inane and instantly gratifying to deep and intensely personal. He's a spur of the moment kind of guy, and lives in the here and now. When he gets a goal, he focuses in on it and pursues it without stop, doing whatever he has to until he either achieves it, or something happens that disrupts his focus and rattles his perception of reality. But if there isn't anything like a plot to guide him, Travis just likes to live each day to the fullest, get some laughs out of it, and if he's lucky, throw down and fight with a fellow badass. That said, when he's on his way to something in particular, he's the kind of person that won't hesitate to be an asshole. Especially if it requires a sequential string of fights, and you're lacking one pair of breasts. And even if you do have them, there's no hope for you if you're insane.

Despite his otaku like tendencies and his moments of idiocy, he plays off people of all types very well. This is part and parcel with his charisma, as there is pretty much no one he cannot click with at some level. Though chances are, the more insufferable they are, the more he'll go out of his way to piss them off. He isn't in the business of lying to people and trying to play them, and makes sure that people knows what he thinks of them. Unless you're somehow already on his shit list, it takes a lot to genuinely piss him off for longer than a day. Generally, people that are wrapped up in their own angst don't interest him much, and likewise with people who are intent on being victimized. Everyone else, however, is fair game. And even then, most of the time his trolling is good natured. If it ever gets to the point where it's not, chances are you already know exactly what he thinks of you.

Travis is also a very meta individual. He's incredibly genre savvy when it comes to the world around him, offering him a kind of circumstantial intelligence that he uses to the fullest effect. By which I mean comedic. He's not only fully aware of the fourth wall, but downright abusive to it. This can range from talking about himself as a video game protagonist, to pointing out moments of extreme bull in the plot. This often makes him seem quirky at best and off his nut at the worse.

Finally, and perhaps the most important, Travis is a rather troubled soul. But as the rest of this personality section should display, this is RARELY ever seen. Layers upon layers of different character traits and quirks bury these things. Death and revenge are just as much parts of his past as they are his present, and a great deal of his true motivations lie in a singular truth. The people Travis care about die because Travis cares about them. He's well aware, at some extent, that his own quests for revenge cycle back to him, taking away what he has. He is also well aware of the inescapable nature of this, representing itself in his own personal quest to find paradise.

To summarize, Travis is a uniquely diverse asshole. He is wholly capable of clicking with just about anyone, though interest is usually a factor, and the methods to his madness can lead him to be a good friend, a great rival, and a wicked enemy. He loves to kill, but hates to see life robbed of it's worth. In one hand he can be a fool, and in the next he can show some incredible insight. And if you're ever lucky (or unlucky) enough to dig all the way through, you've got someone who is just trying to be his own kind of hero despite the fact that his actions lead to an ever constant cycle of death.

POWERS: While largely normal by most standards, there are some natural traits that fall outside the realm of reality and serve as reminders that he lives in a self-aware video game universe as a self-aware video game character. Things like unparalled reflexes (he can flawlessly block fully automatic weapons fire), momentary bursts of incredible speed, endurance to an almost insane capacity (a hand through his chest didn't even slow him down after his ass got bailed out), and unnatural strength (able to suplex and otherwise wrestle down men twice his weight and half again his height effortlessly). These would be either brought down to normal standards or be outright unavailable to him in low frequency worlds.

He has a number of special abilities that are activated via successful kills of enemies. As there are a number of these abilities, this wikia page covers them quite effectively. Of note, latest skills take priority if there is overlap. For instance, Gooseberry Sugar Donut over Anarchy in the Galaxy. Due to the nature of accessing these abilities and their completely random activation, they will rarely come into play. Alternatively, either by building his state of euphoria (filling his Ecstasy Gauge) via uninterupted combat (or just looking at some porn), Travis can enter into a sort of super mode where he is much, much faster for about 20-30 seconds.

Perhaps his most recognizable "power", however, are his beam katanas. While these are more technology than they are innate abilities, they are no less an iconic part of him and their unique method of charging (please see post icon) means that running out of energy will never be a concern (though needing to recharge in a sticky situation? That almost always does). He has five equipped on his person using a set of holsters. One in particular, the Peony, grows longer in relation to how full his Ecstasy Gauge is.

Additionally, and once again a direct benefit of his knowing he's a video game character, Travis is capable of healing himself by eating pizza. Much like how looking at porn fills his "ecstasy gauge", eating a slice of pizza can give him some life back, and eating a full pie is a complete heal. While rare to come into play, it's nonetheless an ability he has. The other pick-up like this are batteries for his beam katanas, which is far less unique and wouldn't even be a factor as come on, how likely is it that the same batteries exist outside of his little world?

Lastly, as mentioned prior, Travis is very much aware of the fourth wall. Not as much as someone like Deadpool is, perhaps, but he was still very much aware of his status as a video game character, and has made a number of references throughout both games regarding that.

OTHER: Since this isn't QUITE an ability as much as it is, well, general insanity from a generally insane universe, Travis is an absolute master of the odd job. Coconut picking, pizza delivery, steak flipping, pest extermination, stunt driver, low orbit garbage cleaner, you name it. As such, he's a very fast learner when it comes to doing something new, when it can be considered an odd job to do on the side.

GAME INFO;

MAGIC ABILITY: Magical Girl Transformation: Travis is able to invoke and call upon the champion of justice within everyone and turn them into a mahou shoujo proper. Complete with a transformation sequence into a unique outfit of skirts, heels, frills and all, and a special wand or staff that takes after their own persona. There's just one little catch.

There's no actual magical power or ability that comes with it. They get the clothes, the transformation, the wand, even a bit of a theme song. But that's it. Well, the wand/staff they get might make a decent club. If they can swing it in the heels they might end up in.

PRICE: His beloved and important cat, Jeane.

ACCLIMATION: 8. Travis has seen and experienced some shit. And when you're very much aware that you are a video game character, it's hard to get thrown into a situation that you can't acclimate to. There are only two reasons why this number isn't even higher. One: Travis had just beaten the final boss, and was pretty much expecting to get the ending. Since no one enjoys having the ending of something interrupted, the same can only be expected (and probably more severely) for someone involved in said ending. And the other reason is...well he was not expecting his ending to be a happy one. Falling at terminal velocity very rarely ends well, you see. So to not only have his ending interrupted, but to realize he's still alive, is going to throw him off for a while.

Like maybe an hour.

Two tops.
